About the role
We're building a compliance platform — and we need someone who deeply understands the domain we serve. As VP of Compliance, you'll be the bridge between our customers' regulatory reality and our product roadmap. You'll shape the compliance intelligence that powers StackTalk and ensure our platform reflects how compliance actually works inside fintechs and banks.
This isn't a traditional compliance officer role. You won't be writing policies for StackTalk the company — you'll be shaping the product that helps thousands of compliance teams do their jobs better. You'll work alongside engineers, designers, and AI researchers to turn regulatory complexity into an intuitive, automated experience.
What you'll do
- Define the compliance domain model that underpins StackTalk's platform — frameworks, regulations, controls, and evidence requirements
- Work with customers to understand their compliance workflows, pain points, and regulatory obligations
- Partner with the AI team to improve the accuracy and coverage of our regulatory intelligence engine
- Monitor the regulatory landscape across federal and state bodies (CFPB, OCC, FDIC, FinCEN, state regulators) and translate changes into product implications
- Build and lead a small compliance content team that maintains our regulatory knowledge base
- Serve as the compliance voice in product planning — ensuring we build features that solve real regulatory problems
- Represent StackTalk to prospects and customers as a domain authority
What we're looking for
- 10+ years of experience in financial services compliance, with deep knowledge of US regulatory frameworks
- Direct experience at a fintech, neobank, or digital lending company — you've lived the compliance challenges our customers face
- Familiarity with frameworks like SOC 2, PCI DSS, BSA/AML, fair lending, and state money transmitter licensing
- Strong opinions on how compliance should work, paired with curiosity about how technology can make it better
- Comfort working in a startup environment where you'll build processes from scratch
- Excellent communication skills — you can make complex regulatory concepts accessible to engineers and executives alike
- Experience with regtech, compliance automation, or GRC platforms is a strong plus
Why StackTalk
Most compliance professionals spend their careers inside the function. This role lets you step outside it and fundamentally change how compliance is done across the industry. You'll have direct influence on a product used by compliance teams at some of the fastest-growing fintechs in the country.
We offer competitive compensation, meaningful equity, and a team that genuinely respects compliance expertise. Our NYC office puts you in the heart of the fintech ecosystem, close to the regulators and customers we serve.
